Fabric Requirements
This pattern requires a knit or woven fabric. If you are choosing a knit, the ungathered version requires a fabric with 50% horizontal stretch. The gathered version does not require stretch.
Your fabric choice will influence how your final garment fits. A lighter, stretchier fabric (such as DBP) will be lighter and looser while a heavier, structured fabric (such as cotton spandex) will have a tighter and boxier fit. If your fabric is unstable vertically (such as rayon spandex), you may find the garment will 'grow' longer on you.
If using a woven fabric, the same principal applies. A lighter fabric (such as rayon challis) will drape and flow, while a more structured woven (quilting cotton, for example), will stand out away from the body.
Measurements are in yards and based on 56” (142 cm) wide fabric. Yardage assumes that your fabric has been prewashed and preshrunk. Extra fabric may be required for matching prints, directional fabric, or if you need to add length.
