Patterns don't always have to be fancy to become a crowd favorite. Sometimes, you want something well-fitted and straightforward that you can easily customize. Upland is THAT pattern. I'm not usually one for fitted clothing, but this was SO perfect for layering pieces, I made several in a size 8. On the left, I used a waffle knit for a thermal. On the right, I used a rayon spandex for a light and pretty summer tee.

The other way I often wear fitted tops is with a skirt or high waisted pants. I'm not comfortable showing my belly anymore, but I can totally pull off a top with high rise pants! On the left I'm wearing the short crop with high rise Pothos Pants. On the right, is a long crop tucked into a Forsythia Skirt. Both tops are made from DBP.

Upland includes three necklines, six hem lengths (including two curved), and five sleeve lengths. It's a basic pattern with not so basic results!
1. Daisy

Daisy chose the crew neck, long sleeve options with a curved top hem in a size 0. This eye catching lime green is a bamboo lycra (one of my favorites!).
2. Rachel

Rachel chose a long sleeve top with the high scoop neckline in a size 2. The striped rib knit really makes this super cute stylish outfit.
3. Michele

Michele made a size 4 long crop with elbow sleeves. That floral makes me think spring, even though I know it's freezing!
4. Sierra

Sierra's two tops are a great example of different ways to wear. Both tops are a size 4. On the left, the berry top in a rib knit has an athletic vibe, while the black DBP top on the right goes great with high waisted flowy pants.
5. Mara

Mara made a 4FBA long crop with the low scoop neckline. That purple bamboo is divine!
6. Donna

Donna's four versions are all different and all so pretty! Donna makes a size 6 FBA. The top left berry is rayon spandex while the top right floral (cool fabric!) is a poly knit. The two on the bottom are striped rib knits. I just HAD to show you the back. That's some pretty epic center back stripe matching!
7. Chris

Chris made two beautiful tops in a size 8/10. On the left, the lovely floral is DBP, and on the right is rayon spandex. That berry color really pops!
8. Amy

Amy made this ridiculously cute short crop with cap sleeves in a size 10FBA. The floral rib knit goes great with those jeans!
9. Becky

Becky made two versions in a size 10FBA/12. The sparkly stars on the left is a rayon spandex, while the fun animal print on the right is a rib knit.
10. Julie

Julie made this gorgeous top in a size 12FBA. I adore this bright, happy print in DBP.
11. Lisa

Lisa made this sublime long crop with 3/4 length sleeves in a 12FBA. The soft sweater knit and the striped Forsythia skirt are giving me water fairy vibes!
12. Lorraine

Lorraine made a size 14FBA/22 in a DBP. The classic vertical stripes are really set off by the neckband.
13. Jessica

Jessica's sweet floral top is in a size 14. She used a DBP to create this pretty floral short sleeve, curved hem top with the high scoop neckline.
14. Tasha

Tasha made a size 14FBA in a jersey knit to create this classic look. I don't know about you, but I tend to use a lot of prints and then can't match tops to bottoms! Sometimes solids are everything!
15. Carolyn

Carolyn made this super pretty green polka dot top in a size 20FBA. She chose a rib knit for a long sleeve, curved tunic hem. It's pretty clear it's puppy approved!
16. Sequoia

Sequoia made both a long sleeve and a short sleeve DBP tunic in a size 20FBA/24. I love the back on the cherry one so much! A center back seam helps really shape a garment to the body.
17. Duane

Duane made a size 18/22FBA with the curved tunic hem, crew neck, and cuffed long sleeves. This amazing floral fabric is a sweater knit.
