Since we launched Rivet Patterns, I was certain I wanted to do a Henley pattern fairly quickly. Problem was, I had SO MANY ideas that when I went to put them all into one pattern, it quickly became overwhelming. I ended up adding a few more options, and then splitting them up into two amazing patterns with interchangeable sleeves and hood. You can save a bit of dough and buy them as a Henley Bundle!
Hawthorn Henley View A is the crop, top, and tunic version. View A has all your classic henley features, plus a little extra. I made two tank versions with traditional plackets, and a long sleeve top version with the extended placket, all in a size 8. The blue tank is cotton lycra, the black tank is DBP, and the blue long sleeve is a brushed rib.
Hawthorn Henley View B is the dress version with five hem lengths. I opted for the full length placket, hem ruffle, and extra long sleeve cuffs for this one. This is a faux cashmere rib and it's so SO soft!
Our testers really, really loved these patterns so I've got a whole lot to show you! I'll be as concise as possible and go in order of size so you can navigate quicker.
1. Emily
Emily shows us the two different lengths of the View A crop, both in a size 2 with the traditional placket. On the left is the short crop version in a pointelle. On the right is the long crop version in a triblend jersey.
2. Lindsay
Lindsay made two dress versions in a size 2 with the regular neckband. On the left is a View B short dress in a jersey knit. On the right (red) is the View B short dress with hem ruffle and the View A cap sleeve in a rayon spandex.
3. Lisanne
Lisanne was busy for this test! She made four versions in a size 4. The blue top is View A with the traditional placket in a slub knit. The green (sweater knit) and brown (ponte) dresses are both View B with regular necklines. The yellow top is a View A regular neckline with View B sleeves.
4. Michele
Michele made several versions in a size 4. The View A gray and white top on the right features an extended placket in a custom rib. The coraly-orange in the middle is also a View A with a hood and no placket in a really neat textured sweater knit. Finally, the floral black on the right is a View B in a poly spandex.
5. Sarah
Sarah made two View A hoodies in a size 4. The yellow and gray on the left is a top version stretch corduroy and the maroon floral on the right is the short crop in velvet!
6. Joanna
Joanna made three versions in a size 4, all with the traditional placket. On the left is a View A in a gorgeous purple pointelle. The center is a View A top with View B sleeves in a blush rayon crinkle. The right is a View B mini dress with the View A hood in a cotton waffle. For this last version, Joanna chose to bind the hood and hem for pops of color to coordinate with the placket and cuffs. Binding is not part of the pattern, but a super easy hack. You can watch how to do use binding in the YouTube Video.
7. Sarah
Sarah made each version in a size 4. On the left is a View A short crop with the traditional placket and on the right is a View B mini with the extended placket.
8. Mara and Michelle
Michelle and Mara are an awesome mother-daughter duo. The top photos are Mara wearing a size 4FBA View A purple short crop with the extended placket. Michelle is wearing a size 6 View A seaglass short crop with the View B sleeves and regular neckband. I added their selfie just because it makes me happy to look at. :-)

Hi Mary! From what I can see in the blog post above there are four size 20 or 22 testers and a few more that graded into/from those sizes as well. We do our best to represent as many sizes as we can in our tests as each size is very important to us. However, we’re at the mercy of who applies and whether or not those folks represent every size we offer. Sometimes we get every size and sometimes we don’t. If you’d like to become a garment tester for us shoot me an email laura@rivetpatterns.com and the team can take a look. Thank you for the feedback and I look forward to hearing from you.
Would like to see more sizes, 20 and 22
