For my first FREE pattern to introduce you to Rivet's style, I went with a gathered skirt. A gathered skirt is a pretty, classic look that is very beginner friendly! Mine is a maxi length in DBP (double brushed poly). I'm quite tall, so if I want a maxi length anything, I have to make it myself. I love this print because it gives the illusion of patchwork without the effort. I paired it with a fitted tee (future pattern!).
You can make the Forsythia Skirt in either a knit OR a woven, making it very versatile! There are five hem lengths available: mini, above knee, knee, midi, and maxi. The skirt is gathered with either a 1" or 2" encased elastic waistband AND there are POCKETS!
Without further ado, let me properly introduce you to Forsythia!
1. Laura
Laura used a different patchwork DBP and it's SO gorgeous. Same skirt, two different looks! The green top is a Heather Daily Tee (also free!).
2. Becky
Becky used a stretch corduroy for her Forsythia. The more structured fabric really shows off the gathers!

3. Julie
In contrast to Becky's corduroy, Julie made her skirt out of a lovely ITY. ITY is a fabulous choice for a flowy skirt!
4. Sequoia
Sequoia made two skirts in two different lengths with two different fabrics! The knee length is a ponte, giving it a bit more fullness. The maxi is a stretch crinkle. Sequoia really knocked it out of the Rivet park pairing her Forsythia with a Heather Tee AND a Forte Tote Bag - both free patterns!

5. Josianne
Josianne used a woven voile for her skirt. Such a bright, happy color, and her styling really shows you how you can dress it up or down!

6. Jessica
Jessica chose this amazing blue DBP. That color really pops against the white Heather Tee, and POCKETS! Great look for so many occasions!

7. Jenni
Jenni chose one of my very favorite woven fabrics, rayon challis. Rayon challis gives garments a beautiful drape and it's soft! Jenni used the full width of fabric for extra gathers, and I think the effect is gorgeous!
