The story of Fleur began when my teen tried on a pair of yoga pants at Forever 21. The pants had a bound flower on the hip. Super cool, but also... you couldn't really wear underwear. Fast forward a couple of years, and we came up with a way to incorporate the flower in a beautiful, undergarment friendly design!
If you're ready, let's take a tour through all of our testers' marvelous makes. I made two - both long crop tank versions. I bound the neckline and the arms. I made mine first, and then my teen was wistfully looking at it, so I surprised her with her own. I made a size 8 for myself, and a size 2 for my daughter. Both are made from cotton lycra.
Even though her daughter was just a little under the size 0 measurements, Sierra decided to go for it with a ribbed knit. Her kiddo loves it!
Caity made a Size 4 long crop tank in a jersey knit.
Jesara made a Size 4 in Cotton Lycra. She made the long crop with the cap petal sleeve.
Carolyn made her daughter a Size 4FBA in a ribbed knit. LOVING it with the patchwork skirt! This skirt pattern is the Forsythia Gathered Skirt and it's a FREE PATTERN!
Beth made three versions in a Size 6. The top dress is a tank dress (mini length) in cotton lycra. Bottom left is a top with the short petal sleeves in bamboo, and bottom right is a top with cap petal sleeves in cotton lycra.
Melissa made a Size 6 in polartec, top length, with short petal sleeves.
Ashley made two versions in a Size 8. The top, dress version, is in an athletic knit with the short petal sleeves and knee length skirt. The bottom, top version, is a repurposed tee from her son's school! I love stuff like this!
June made two versions in a Size 8FBA/16, using DBP for both. On the left is a top version. On the right, she made the separates option with the knee length skirt!
Donna made a Size 10 top in spun poly with the short cap sleeves.
Carmen made a Size 10 dress version with the above knee length skirt.
Athena made two Size 12 crop versions. On the left, she experimented with a mesh back, and using FOE for the flower. In the middle, and on the right, she used DBP and FOE.
Tine made this Size 12 top in a cotton knit with the short petal sleeves. I just have to show you all the angles!
Lorraine made a Size 14FBA/22 in DBP. This is the top version with the short petal sleeve.
Amy made a Size 16 in cotton lycra with the mini skirt. Love the throwback look with jeans!
Carolyn made herself a long sleeve top version in a Size 18FBA/20. She used an athletic performance knit.
Stephanie made her sister (she's one lucky sister - Stephanie makes her all kinds of amazing things) a size 22 tank in DBP.
Don-Jen made a Size 22/28 in cotton lycra. This dress version uses the long regular sleeve with the knee length skirt.
